Kasungu league debutants, TN Stars, moved from 14nth to 12th on Sunday, 18 November, 2018, in the TNM Super League log table with 34 points in 28 matches, leaving them 3 points above the relegation zone.

The team managed to beat Blue Eagles at Nankhaka through goals from the team’s top scorer, Stain Davie and Trouble Banda, in the first and second half respectively.

Davie scored in the 12th minute of the game, while Banda piled misery on the area 30 police team in the 70th minute.

The team, which has now won an away match for the first time, was led by assistant coach, Mike Banda, in the absence of head coach Meke Mwase, who led the under 23 team in Botswana.

In an interview after the game, Banda cited the win on good preparations, and said the team will not get relegated.

“We worked hard in training, and the boys worked hard since I already made it clear to them that this was a very important game and we had to win.

“We didn’t win against Silver Strikers last week, but all days are not Sundays, sometimes you lose and sometimes you win , and today I talked to the boys that we have very few games remaining and we had to work so hard, so we couldn’t afford to lose the game, and here we are we have really won it.

“We will not get relegated and we will work hard to win the next 2 games to remain in the league,” he joyfully explained.

Blue Eagles missed the services of winger Mecium Mhone and Gregory Nachipo, who was with the under 23 team in Botswana.

Team manager Deklerk Msakakuona said he believes the loss only indicates that it was not their day.

“It was not our day that’s why we have lost. It was a tough game, we wanted to win but unfortunately we have lost it, congrats to them,” he bitterly explained.

Meanwhile, both teams are level on points, with Eagles on 10th through a better goal difference, and all teams are also remaining with 2 games, and they are supposed to win all of them to make sure they escape relegation.

In his week’s fixture, TN Stars will travel to Dedza Stadium on Sunday, 25 November, 2018 to play 5th placed Masters Security, while Eagles have no game in the league, since they have a FISD Challenge Cup match on the same day against Kamuzu Barracks at Nankhaka Stadium.
