FIFA physical fitness coaching course has commenced in Blantyre yesterday, Monday, 10 December, 2018 at Mpira Village as announced by Football Association of Malawi in a press statement on 28 November, 2018.

The statement indicated that the course will run from 10th to 14th December, 2018, under the mentorship of a FIFA instructor.

The course is being run under the tutorship of FIFA Instructor Mark Jones from Australia, and about 30 coaches; 16 from Super League teams, one from each of the three top teams in the three Regional Premier Division Leagues and seven from top First Capital Bank Under-20 League teams, have shown up for the training at the venue.

Meanwhile, the Austrian instructor has once played football for a couple of clubs in Europe including; Newcastle Rosebud in 1985, Sydney Croatia in 1987, Marconi Fairfield in 1990 and spent two seasons at Bossley Park, and finished his footballing career with Newcastle Breakers in the 1993/1994 season.

The 52-year-old also played for Australia, and after he retired from football, he joined the N.S.W. Institute of Sport in 2000 where he was head coach of a women program before taking up an assistant coach role at Newcastle Jets in 2006, and on 16 April 2017, Jones was sacked as manager of Newcastle, after the team finished as league anchors in the A-League after being appointed in the previous year.

Franco Ndawa, Lloyd Nkhwazi, Temwa Msuku and Bob Mpinganjira are some of the TNM Super League representatives at the training.
