Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says most of his players are injured ahead of a Premier League crucial match against long term rivals Liverpool at Anfield this weekend on Sunday, 16 December, 2018.
The under-fire Mourinho, made the remarks in build-up interview for the Liverpool game, after his team was embarrassingly beaten by Valencia in the last game of the UEFA Champions League two days ago which condemned them to a second spot in their group.
According to the Sun, the Portuguese said he was forced to field a weakened team, ringing eight changes to the team that won at home to Fulham, because of the injury crisis that has hit United.
“Smalling is injured, Lindelof is injured, Darmian is injured, Martial is injured, Dalot is injured.
“I had no other options including a player like Rojo, who I expected to play and give a rest to Ashley Young for example.
“But at half-time, Rojo is injured and is out,” he told reporters.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are at the summit in the Premier League standings, and have managed to win 13 matches out of 16 and are the only team yet to be defeated this season in the League, while United have only managed to win 7 matches in the same number of games as their fierce rivals, and are siting sixth in the table.
