Silver Strikers FC’s preparations for the new season are yet to start as the team is still without the Executive Committee after expiry of the ones who were serving on the post for the last four years.

This is happening in the event that most of the teams in the topflight TNM Super League are making strides in as far as the preparations of the 2019 season are concerned, for instance buying of new players to strengthen their teams, an area where the Bankers have only acted in the previous weeks (before expiry of the new executive members) by extending contracts to players whose contracts expired.

One of the leading Newspapers in the country quoted the outgoing General Secretary, Lawrence Yobe as saying: “There has been no word from the board on the way forward and as it is, there is a power vacuum.

“There are crucial issues that need to be urgently looked into like preparations for the new season, signing of new players and reviewing the technical panel.

“It is like everything has come to a standstill.”

The Paper also indicates that one of the team’s trustees McDonald Mafuta Mwale earlier on said: “The constitution gives mandate to the board of trustees to constitute the executive committee every four years. We will, therefore, review the performance of the old executive committee and decide whether to renew their mandate or bring in new personnel.”

Meanwhile, Silver’s Supporters Committee Chairperson King Malaya told the Paper that the team’s supporters want the outgoing leadership to continue.

“I was recently approached by a group of supporters who asked me to request the board to consider extending the Chairperson Ralph Tseka’s tenure of office.

“The general feeling is that under his leadership, the players’ welfare has improved and we have assembled a good team. We might not have won any silverware last season, but the future is promising,” he said.
