Multiple Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo, teased Atletico Madrid fans with a five finger gesture representing five UEFA Champions League trophies he has won in his illustrious career after Juventus’ two-nil loss in the hands of the Los Colchoneros.
Atletico scored through center-backs Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin in yet another night to forget for the Video Assistant Referee operating team.
The return to Spain did not go well for the 34-year-old Portugal international who dated Real Madrid before moving to Juve in the summer, and in response to the embarrassing defeat after the full time whistle, he made the troubling gesture accompanied by words, saying: “I have five Champions Leagues, you [Atletico] have none.”
After winning his first European Cup in England with Manchester United in 2008, he won it four times with Madrid, including twice against Diego Simeone’s Atletico in 2014 and 2016 finals.
However, despite the loss, Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri still believes his men can turn the tables in the second leg of the competition at home.
“Now there is disappointment, but we must believe that we can overturn it.
“It will not be easy, it will take a great game, in which we will have to be good at moving the game more.
“Remaining orderly, which we did not do tonight, even after suffering the second goal, which in fact left us risking more. However, the 2-0 can be overturned, it is useless to cry on it,” he said according to Goal.
In the Champions League, Ronaldo has scored 121 times, but this season he has only managed to score once.
