The Malawi National Women’s football team left the country on Sunday, April 7 for Maputo in Mozambique for a return leg of a Tokyo 2020 Olympics Women’s first round Qualifier.
The team flies out with a massive advantage after thrashing Mozambique 11-1 at the Kamuzu Stadium in commercial capital Blantyre on Wednesday.
The match in Maputo will be played on Tuesday, April 9 and the team includes full squad.
The team goalkeepers include Samir Amidu and Martha Banda.
Defenders include Chimwemwe Madise, Emily Jossam, Patricia Nyirenda, Ruth Nyirongo Towera and Vinkhumbo Maureen Phiri
Midfielders: Wezzie Mvula, Madyina Nguluwe, Funny Mwale, Shira Dimba, Zainab Kapanda, Sabina Thom, Enlecio Mhango and Asimenye Simwaka
The Strikers include Mary Chavinda, Linda Kasenda, Temwa Chawinga and Tabitha Chawinga.
The overall winner of the Malawi-Mozambique tie will date Kenya in the second round. Meanwhile, the second and third round qualifying matches will take place in September and October respectively.
