Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Youth Football Development Officer, James Sangala has said that he will use the knowledge acquired from the electronic physical fitness workshop to train clubs on how to use the gadgets on the players.

In March, Sangala attended a two-day Confederation of African Football (CAF) physical fitness course intended at equipping technical officials on how to use the physical fitness performance devices used for monitoring performance of athletes.

Sangala said that he is now able to use the gadgets which help in the scientific assessment of players’ fitness as well as identifying good players.

He added that he was now ready to transfer the knowledge to all coaches and clubs in the country.

“The equipment is very useful to the physical trainers as well as the clubs because it can easily assess players who are just coming from injuries to track down how they have recovered.

“I am now fully conversant with the equipment and the gadgets which are user-friendly,” Sangala said.

Last year CAF donated the physical fitness performance devices to each member association including Malawi following an agreement by the executive committee on January 10, 2018 in Casablanca, Morocco.

The donation was aimed at protecting African football players and improving performance, reducing injuries, sudden cardiac arrest cases and fatalities in the course of developing of football across the continent.
