Brighton Gomani of Neno Medicals leads the Thumbs-Up Southern Region Football League scoring chart with 10 goals as the league is almost half way to the break of first round,

Gomani took the lead when he scored the lone goal against Mighty Be Forward Wanderers Reserve on June 9, 2019 at Neno Ground which claimed the victory for his team who moved up the log table from position 15 to position 14.

Sable Farming players, Humphreys Chimwaza and Luis Thom both are second with nine goals while Nyasa United, Ellard Gwetsa, Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve, Lanjezi Nkhoma, MDF Marine, Yotamu Maunde and Sable Farming, Andrew Butao of have eight goals each.

Gomani, who is making his debut in the Premier League after Neno Medicals was promoted from Division One, said he has set a target of clinching the golden boot award with record breaking goals.

“As of now, Neno Medicals is not on the position where people expected it to be so my main focus in the league is to help the team to be in its top form and on a good position so as to live to the expectations of our supporters and sponsors,” Gomani said.

He added: “While I am doing that, I still want to prove something by scoring in each and every game ahead of us so as to maintain this record and become the overall top goal scorer by the end of the league.”

Neno Medicals Head Coach, Isaac Malinga said the player needs psychological counseling and encouragement from the team’s technical panel to live up to his dream.

Bullets Reserve are at the summit of the log table with 26 points from 13 games while Red Lions is second with 24 points from 9 games and Sable Farming, Hangover United and CISO both have 23 points from 10 games, 11 games and 12 games respectively.
