Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) has announced that Malawi will host the Under-17 championship from September 26 to August 5 2019.
Cosafa secretariat announced the dates on Saturday after Zambia were crowned champions for the senior men’s tournament in Durban, South Africa.
“The Cosafa Women’s Championship will be staged in Port Elizabeth from July 31 to August 11 2019, while the Cosafa Under-20 Women’s Championship will run concurrently at the same venue from August 1 to 11,” part of a post on www.cosafa.com.
“Later in the year will also be a Cosafa Under-17 Women’s Championship in Mauritius (September 13 to 22) followed by a boys’ competition in the Under-17 age-group in Malawi (September 26-October 5). “The final competition will be the Cosafa Under-20 Championship for men in Zambia from December 4 to 15.”
However, Football Association of Malawi is yet to disclose the venue for the under-17 championship, which the junior Flames won on home soil in 2001.
The Flames returned home on Saturday after winning three games, losing twice and drawing once at the men’s senior event.
Zambia, who eliminated the Flames from the quarter-finals through a 4-2 post-match penalty win after a 2-2 stalemate in regulation time.
Meanwhile, Malawi lost 5-4 on post-match penalties to South Africa in the Plate Section final, claimed three of the five individual awards on offer.
