Malawi national football team star, John ‘CJ’ Banda, said he is delighted by reports linking him to South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams after an extraordinary campaign in the Cosafa Cup last week.
Banda, who was stand in captain for the Flames at the competition, is being linked with teams such as Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic.
The captain was impressive throughout the tournament and bagged the Man-of-the-Match award during the Plate final against South Africa.
The former Blue Eagles and Eagle Strikers player said, though there is no concrete offer on the table, the development shows that other teams appreciate his talent.
“My contract has a clause that says, if any team comes, Songo would not stand in my way. This means I can go should there be an offer,” Banda said.
Relegated Free State Stars are also interested in signing the midfielder, who is a skillful dribbler and proven goal-scorer.
Banda signed for Mozambican top side UD Songo on a year-long deal after spending two years with Ferraviario de Nampula.
Meanwhile, Banda, alongside Gabadinho Mhango and Player-of-the-Tournament Gerald Phiri Junior, helped the Flames to reach the Plate final which they lost 5-4 to South Africa on post-match penalties.
