South African expert has trained Malawi Cricket Union (MCU) officials and Cricket Academy players in how to repair broken bats.
South African expert, Dave Phillip, conducted the exercise at St Andrews International High School in Blantyre, where academy is based.
MCU Services and Logistics Officer, Patricia Kapesa, said that the exercise is fruitful.
“We were losing some bats as most of us did not know how to mend them when broken,” Kapesa said.
He added: Through this programme, most players and officials have mastered the art of repairing bats.”
Meanwhile, the academy team beat Colts of Lilongwe by 117-116 runs in the on-going T20 Alendo Cricket Ground.
MCU is running programmes to woo indigenous Malawians to learn the sport.
