The Flames, national football team of Malawi will start and finish the 2021 qualifying campaign of African Cup of Nations (AFCON) at home, Malawi sports can reveal.
Gomezgani Zakazaka, the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) competitions and Media Director confirmed that CAF had released the tentative Fixtures of the Games.
“This would be followed by a trip to Uganda between November 11 and 19 – 2019, he said.”
Zakazaka also said Confederation of African football (CAF) would announce actual kick-off time and dates after consulting host federation.
“CAF has indeed released the 2021 AFCON fixtures and with this release we are very happy because our Coach Meke Mwase will have enough time to plan well for the matches. There is no doubt that he Flame will qualify for the finals, because we will do everything in our power for that to happen, he said”
Malawi will face Burkina Faso back-to-back on away and home, between August 31 and September 8, 2020.
The Flames will meet either Sudan or Seychelles between October 5 and 13 before finishing the campaign at home against Uganda between November 9 and 7, 2020.
Two top teams will make their way to the final tournament.
