Orlando pirates were over joyful as they defeated Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 in the Carlin Black Label Cup (CBLC) on Saturday at FNB Stadium, Malawi Sport has the story.

Lazarous Kambola started the game ahead of Leonardo Castro whereas brilliant Khuzwayo was dropped bench on the line-up due to an injury at the expense of Leonardo Castro.

Dumisani Zuma threatens Sandilands goal in the early exchanges, but the shot did not make it to hit the net.

However, the chiefs made a slight mistake at their defence as a result, Augustine Mulenga profited as a shot came back off the post and Zambia star struck home.

Not so long, Kambole was guilty after he missed an absolute sitter as he failed to convert in a gaping goal.

Half an hour later, Thembinkosi Lorch the talk-of-the-town, showed his class as he struck a goal of the season contender curler beyond Bruce Bvuma.

Reeve Frosler joined the fray just after the break who replaced Ramahlwe Mpahlele who was forced off with injury.

The chiefs in the second stanza showed improvement in the final third but still were not able to trouble the scores. Changes were made after the break as Kabelo Mahlasela came in for Siphelele Ntshangase while new Pirates signing Fortune Makaringe replaced the livery Lorch.

Khama Billiat showed quick feet on the edge of the area before firing in a low shot which Sandilands did well to get down to save. Kambole ran in for the follow-up but his strike went into the side-netting though he was offside anyway.

There were also signs of potential promising partnership introduced by Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro. Frosler struck a fierce shot from a distance which was palmed away by Sandilands whereas Castro headed his effort over the bar.

There was a third chance by the Sea Robbers to strike but substitute Fortune Makaringe Dragged his strike wide,when a pass across goal fellow to substitute Gabadinho Mhango which  may have been a better option.

Pirates won the Carling Black Label Cup (CBLC).
