MORE MALAWIANS IN CAF ASSIGNMENTS – – Football, Netball, Basketball, Hockey,Tennis and sports in Malawi

Apart from those of Masters Security FC and Nyasa Big Bullets, More Malawian footballers took were involved in Confederation of African Football (CAF) assignments over the week end.

Bullets settled a draw with Zimbabwe’s FC platinum in Champion League preliminary round fist-leg game at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Masters lost 3 to Zero to Proline in Kampala, Uganda, in a Confederation Cup match.

Masters host the Ugandans after two weeks at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe whereas Bullets travel to Bulawayo for the reverse fixtures.

The winner between Bullets and Platinum date, in the first-round, either Mozambique champions UD Songo—employers of Malawians Charles Swini, John and Frank Banda— or Simba of Tanzania.

The Banda brothers featured for Songo as they settled for a costly goalless draw with Simba in Beira in a preliminary round match played on Saturday.

The Tanzanians have an advantage going into the second leg in a fortnight, but Frank believes the game is far from over.

“Swini did not feature in the game but the rest of us did. It was a good game. We just missed scoring opportunities,” Frank said.

Elsewhere, Flames top striker Gabadinho Mhango came off the bench but could not save South Africa’s Orlando Pirates from losing 1-0 to Green Eagles in Zambia in a Champions League match.

The return legs are scheduled for the weekend of August 23.
