Central Region Youth Committee (CRYFC) has organized the Football association of Malawi (FAM) C License Coaching Course to upgrade their coaching skills.
However, some Super League players from Lilongwe took advantage of the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) C License Coaching Course.
Green Harawa, Young Chimodzi Jnr, Blessings Tembo, Thoko Stambuli and Emmanuel Zoya were part of the 63 participants in the week-long course which ended on Wednesday at the Lilongwe Community Centre.
Harawa said Silver Strikers management arranged for him and his team mate Chimodzi to take part in the course.
“In life you never know what will happen in the future, as such; you have to embrace every opportunity that comes. We have learnt a lot and it’s the knowledge that will also help me as a player. I have learnt about game tactics,” said Harawa.
Course facilitator Benjamin Kumwenda said they were happy to have Super League players in the cohort.
“We were happy to have Super League players who are about to retire. This is encouraging both to the FA and also to everyone who loves football. These players will inspire the young ones during coaching sessions,” he said
Efnally Nyirenda, a physical education teacher from Kauma, Area 12 in Lilongwe, Speaking on behalf of other participants said, she wants to be a coach and when the opportunity came she grabbed it.
“It’s an enriching experience for me. Women’s football is growing fast and there is need for more female coaches to inspire more girls to do away with the perception that football is for men only. After this, I will have to form my own team,” she said.
