Golfers, Zimbabwean Henry Finch and Jeong-ok Yoo made history after becoming the first winners of the Jibs Security golf tournament at Blantyre Sports Club on Saturday.

Twenty-four handicap Finch posted 68 net to emerge winner of the men’s category, followed by Paul Araujo who had 74 net from his 12 handicap.

A fourteen handicap, Goodwin Chimseu, was counted out to finish third with 74 net. Interestingly, players from positions two to four all scored 74 points each.

Finch dedicated his first-ever win to the late Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe.

“I am excited. I never expected to win. This is my first trophy in the game,” he said.

Eong-ok Yoo posted 79 net from 22 handicap in the ladies section,. Yoo also won the nearest to the pin award on hole 12. Twenty-one handicap Diana Kambale was second with 80 net.

In subsidiary prizes, Ishmael Suleman won both the longest drive on hole 17 and nearest to the pin on hole 10.

Doreen Kavala won the nearest to the pin contest on hole two in the ladies section.

Innocent Chikoko, Managing Director of Jibs Security, said it was a successful tournament as the company interacted with its clients and potential ones.

“The tournament gave us a platform to get feedback from our clients. It was important to interact in a relaxed manner. We were hoping to broaden our customer base and offer assurance to our clients.

“We are committed to professionalism and high security standards. For this reason, I can confidently say that we will return next year,” Chikoko said.

William Mabulekesi, A seasoned golfer who competed in the event, paid tribute to Jibs Security for spicing up the event with a live band performance.

“We usually have DJs playing pre-recorded music during golf tournaments but the sponsor organised a live band that gave us a really good treat. Jibs have scored highly on this aspect,” Mabulekesi said.
