Meke Mwase,Head Coach for Flames has pleaded for support from Football Association of Malawi (FAM) for the national team’s preparations in Qatar World Cup and African Cup of Nations (AFCON) group stages qualifiers.
Mwase made the plea after Flames finally made it to the group stage of the World Cup qualification following a 1-0 victory over Botswana Zebras at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The Head Coach said the team will need to prepare thoroughly for the qualification marathon.
“We have all seen that we have a very good young team. All we need now is to support the boys. We need adequate preparations tough,” he said.because things are going to get
The Flames tactician also touched on players’ welfare, saying that will help motivate the team.
“When I say we need support, I am also talking of the players’ welfare and that of the members of the technical panel as well,” he said.
Alfred Gunda general secretary of Football Association of Malawi (FAM) said in reaction to Mwase’s plea,that the association will do its best to ensure that the team has full support.
“We have trust in the team. We cannot let them down after the team showed the potential that it has,” he said.
Malawi now joins 14 other teams that have made it to the group stage alongside 26 others who were seeded.
