Upon Flames 1-0 victory over Botswana Zebras at Kamuzu Stadiums in Blantyre and hence a progress to the group stages of the World Cup qualification, the players have been rewarded K600 000 as game bonus each from the normal K100 000 for a win and half amount (K50 000) for a draw.
Walter Nyamilandu, President of Football Association of Malawi (FAM) said the association gave K250 000 for a draw in Botswana in the first Leg played on Saturday in Francisco Town and also K250 000 for a win on Tuesday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, making a total of K500 000.
FAM’s President topped up the player K100 000 each from his pocket from his pocket to round it to K600 000.
“We considered the leg that we drew as win because if had not drawn in that match we couldn’t have qualified,” said Nyamilandu.
Meke Mwase the Flames coach said the game bonus will help motivate the team.
He pleaded from FAM for the national teams of preparation in Quarter World Cup and African Cup of the Nations (AFCON) group Stages qualifiers.
The Flames tactician said the team will need to prepare thoroughly for the qualification campaign.
