Football Association of Malawi President (FAM) Walter Nyamilandu has said he will launch football academy as one way of promoting football in the country.
Nyamilandu announced this in a statement released on Tuesday made available to Malawi-sports.com.
“The foundation realizes the power that the game of football possesses in building strong personalities and characters among the youth; it is against my background that I have put football development at grassroots level as a key strategic engagement area in its operations”, said Nyamilandu.
Nyamilandu said, Football Academy of under-15 is very unique and will be driven by the three pillars, namely; Total Football Development, Education Centric and Spiritual Growth.
“We want the academy kids to have disciplines. A total of 25 players have been identified and enrolled at the academy after a rigorous process which involved a tournament played in Blantyre in the month of August 2019”, he said.
The launch of the football academy will be held on Saturday on September 14th, 2019 at Chiwembe Stadium in Blantyre, starting from 10:00 am.
