The race for glory in this year’s First Capital Bank (FCB) T20 Cricket tournament is on tomorrow with semifinal and final games.
The tournament attracted 17 teams but has now been reduced to four competitors.
In the first semifinal, Purple Lido Electrical date Rainbow Paints at Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) while Orange Kukoma entertain Grey Royal Motors in the second semifinal at Indian Sports Club.
The winners will clash in the final at MSC.
Motors Captain, Bikhu Eliyas, whose side beat MSC Silver Worldwide by 54 runs to reach the last four, said they could stun Kukoma.
“We have been playing well. We have defied the odds to reach this far and we will definitely carry the day,” Eliyas said.
Kukoma Captain, Khalil Badat, said they were looking forward to winning the trophy.
“We are not underrating any team but we will work hard to achieve our goal,” Badat, whose team qualified for the semifinals after beating Brown Pamodzi by 28 runs, said.
Lido Captain, Ayub Patel, said Rainbow do not pose any threat to their title aspirations.
“We defeated Mpingwe Silver by nine wickets and we feel that they were a tougher team than Rainbow,” Patel said.
Rainbow Captain, Karamat Chaundry, said they expect a tough match.
“It will not be easy but we will put all our energy into the game,” Chaundry said.
Organizing Committee Chairperson, Shiraz Zaveri, said the semifinalists are all capable of winning.
“They have worked hard to make it into the last four. All of them can win the trophy if they press the right buttons,” Zaveri said.
