The Reds travel to Old Trafford after the international break looking for a ninth Premier League win in succession
Alisson Becker will return to the Liverpool team for Sunday’s Premier League clash at Manchester United, while Mohamed Salah is almost certain to start at Old Trafford.
The Egyptian has recovered from the ankle injury he picked up following a challenge by Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury before the international break.
The forward had already been rested from the Egypt squad before that blow, but after undergoing a scan he has recovered well following treatment and is set to start against the Red Devils.
Alisson has been undergoing intense fitness sessions over the international break as he closes in on a first start in over two months.
The Brazilian goalkeeper has been absent ever since picking up a calf injury in the opening game of the Premier League season, with summer free transfer signing Adrian impressing in the 27-year-old’s absence as Liverpool have won all eight of their Premier League games to pull eight points clear at the top of the table.
Alisson – who was recently voted as FIFA’s Best Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year will now come back into the side against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, while Jurgen Klopp has also given some of his star men extra time off following international exertions.
Roberto Firmino and Fabinho both played for Brazil in their 1-1 friendly draws against Senegal and Nigeria in Singapore over the past week, and both are now set for a few days off.
Sadio Mane also played in that Brazil vs Senegal clash and will also be given a break by Klopp, with a Thursday return to Melwood looking likely for all three players.
The trio are now more than likely to start at Old Trafford along with both Alisson and Salah.
