Spanish club Getafe have confirmed they have changed the name of their football club ahead of their meeting with FC Barcelona this weekend.
The club has decided to drop the first four letters of their name for a one-off occasion around the game against the Catalan giants.
The club will be called: ‘Fe CF’, which translates in English to Faith FC.
Not only will the club change it’s name for the match, they will also be wearing special kits with a special badge.
The club has already changed the names of their social media and website pages as they skipped the Geta part.
The club has confirmed that this is an innovative campaign to bring hope to the fans during the coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement Getafe says they have decided to change the name to “raise awareness and inject encouragement into the fans in the face of the extraordinary difficulties that this 2020 is posing for the club and for society in general.” After the game against Barcelona, FE CF will change their name back to the original Getafe CF.
