TNM Super League champions, Nyasa Big Bullets have cancelled their participation in some test series to be played by league teams over the weekend.

Super League of Malawi (Sulom) and Football Association of Malawi (FAM) will supervise and coordinate the friendly games across the country as a way of testing preparations for the league kick off next week following the Coronavirus (COVID-19) guidelines.

Bullets Chief Administration Officer, Albert Chigoga told the media that the decision has been made following recommendations from the technical team on the risks on players ahead of the Super League kick off.

“The game has been cancelled because our technical panel think some players have injuries which need some days to recover and prepare for the league. The fear is featuring for the games may lead to more injuries thereby rendering the team destitute when the league resumes.

“For now, training sessions continue as we prepare for the league resumption,” he said.

Sulom vice general secretary said the programme will continue with Ntopwa playing Be Forward Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium on Thursday, saying the initiative was already set to involve few teams.

In the Central Region it will involve four teams where Blue Eagles will host Civo Service FC at Nankhaka before Kamuzu Barracks play Silver Strikers on Saturday.

Winners of the two matches will battle out for the honours the next day, as losers also clash to fill out third and fourth positions.

Similar games will be played in the Northern Region as Moyale host Karonga and Chitipa on Saturday and Sunday respectively at Karonga Stadium.

Sunday will also see Mzuzu Warriors playing Ekwendeni Hammers at Mzuzu Stadium.

Bullets will kick off the 2020 league season against Blue Eagles at Kamuzu Stadium.
