One of the leading mobile telecommunication operator in the country Airtel Malawi has donated MK10 million to Malawi national football team the flames to help the team’s preparation ahead of 2015 African Cup of nations qualifying campaign against Mali at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday and way in Ethiopia on Wednesday.
Airtel Managing Director Heiko Schlittkke unveiled the donation on Wednesday at Ryalls Hotel in the commercial capital Blantyre.
Speaking after the donation, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Walter Nyamilandu Manda hails the gesture shown by the company, saying the donation will go a long way in assisting the flames preparations.
For the flames to fulfill its two remain games in the (AFCON) needs over MK50 million and with Airtel donation the team is lacking only MK5 million to meet its budget.
Malawi the flames which is currently on third position in group B needs to win all its remain games for its dream of qualifying to 2015 (AFCON) to be realized.
