Malawi national Football team the flames has moved 15 places up on the Fifa Coca-Cola ranking despite the team’s failure to qualify for 2015 African Cup of Nation (AFCON) to be played in Guinea.
Current flames is on position 94 from 109 on world rankings and in Africa, the team is on position 26.
The rise follows the team’s performance in last two games against Mali at Kamuzu Stadium on November 15 and Ethiopia on November 19.
The last time the Flames hit a two digit position was in September this year.
Cosafa’s top ranked team South Africa are up six places to position 51 in the world following the team’s impressive run in the Afcon qualifiers.
Zambia, who are second best in Cosafa, are up 16 places to position 62 followed by Angola on position 81.
Malawi’s fellow Group B members Mali are up nine places on position 49 after beating the continents best team Algeria who have dropped three places.
Germany lead the world rankings while Argentina is second, Colombia third and Belgium fourth with Netherlands on fifth place.
