Pretoria University and Malawi International forward Atusaye Nyondo will miss the Flames up-coming 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers (Afcon) due to injury.
Speaking in an interview Nyondo said: “It’s sad for me because I thought maybe I’d recover in time but I haven’t been playing games for three weeks now, so yes am so disappointed not to be in the national team,” he said.
“I thought I’d recover in time but I over-stretched the muscles and that’s why the injury has taken quite a long time. I haven’t been playing for the club (Pretoria University) for three weeks now.
“It’s so sad because I was very much looking forward to both of these coming games but I know that the guys (players) are going to do the job.”
Nyondo further added that even though he will be absent from both games, he will be present in spirit starting on Saturday when the Flames host Mali.
“I know that the guys are going to do the job at home. I know that it’s not an easy match but everyone knows how important this game is,” he said.
“So everyone is looking forward to it, I am also looking forward to it. Even though am not playing but my spirit is there to support the guys.
“Motivating one another is what it’s all about, regardless of whether you’re playing or not. We have to support one another so I believe and trust that the guys are going to get the job done.”
