Malawi will this Wednesday be expected to beat Ethiopia on Wednesday in their final Group B 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers in order for them to stand a chance to qualify for the tournament which is expected to take place in Equatorial Guinea.
Malawi are now in third position but level on points with Mali 6 points each but trail on goal aggregate, Ethiopia are placed 4th while current group leaders Algeria have already qualified with 15 points.
Speaking to Flames Coach Young Chimodzi said they would go for nothing short of victory in Addis Ababa.
“The performance of the team was good today,” Chimodzi said after beating Mali.
“But we need to be even better when we play Ethiopia.”
“We just have to believe in ourselves like we did today. What we need is victory against Ethiopia.”
The Flames flew to Addis Ababa yesterday hoping to get an inspiration from the Saturday game in which Platinum Stars midfielder Robert Ng’ambi and veteran Esau Kanyenda’s header earned Malawi a rare victory.
