Malawi’ netball sensation the queens who were in New Zealand, where they were participating at the Fast5 World Netball Championship returned home Tuesday afternoon to a low turnout after they did not impress at the tournament.
It was the talk of the day as the Queens arrived at the airport and discovered that there was no official from government, Netball Association of Malawi and Sports Council to welcome them.
Queens Coach Mary Waya talking to our reporter said: “We did our best and the girls performed very well taking into consideration that we only had 10 days of preparations.”
“I am also impressed with the performance of the young players who have just joined us,” said Waya.
Malawi Queens failed to win any of their games at Fast5 World Netball Championship played in New Zealand.
The Queens results were as follows:
Malawi 26-49 New Zealand
Malawi 28-29 Jamaica
Malawi 39-42 England
Malawi 33-35 Australia
Malawi 30-33 South Africa
Malawi 22-30 South Africa
