The final round of the 2014 GOtv Netball Chamionship which was played in Lilongwe at the Don Bosco over the weekend has ended in style as Complex Tigresses were crowned victors of the tournament.
Tigresses, who already sealed their championship fait on Saturday after beating Mafco 30-19, finished the competition in style on Sunday after beating rivals Diamond Sisters to maintain their 20 unbeaten run and collecting a maximum 40 points.
Diamonds who were the defending champions finished second while Blue Eagles came third. Civo nets finished fourth while on 5th position were a tie between Mafco and MTL Queens.
Tigresses got K1.5 million and a trophy for emerging champions while second placed Diamond Sister pocketed home K1.2 Million.
Blue Eagles Sisters received K1 Million, Civo Nets K700, 000.00 and MTL Queens received K500, 000.00 for finishing third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Reporters speaking to former Malawi National Netball Team star Peace Chawinga who is now coach for Tigresses in an interview said: “I am very delighted that we have won the GOtv netball championship and we already knew that we will win the competition.
“We have given ourselves a target of winning all the competitions nothing else,” said Chawinga.
Also present at the tournament was Youth Development and Sports Minister Grace ‘Obama’ Chiumia.
