Ivory Coast came from behind with 10 men to equalise in their opening match against Guinea on Tuesday.
It wasn’t at all easy for the elephants to draw the match as their winger Gervinho was sent off for unsportsmanship behaviour on the field.
After a nasty foul by Naby Keita, Gervinho responded with a strike of his own, arguably in frustration that they were a goal down.
Guinea led 1-0 at the time thanks to Mohamed Yattara’s 36th-minute strike, and Gervinho was Ivory Coast’s best player prior to his dismissal.
But Seydou Doumbia leveled in the 72nd minute to earn the Elephants a point. Up next: a tricky tie with Mali on Saturday.
Gervinho has since been given a two match ban.
