Mzuzu University FC coach Alex Ngwira believes Mzuni have better chances of winning the Northern Region Football Association’s Simama Premier league and earn promotion to the TNM Super League.
The coach made the remarks after his side held Simama leaders Chilumba Barracks to a goalless draw at Majaliro Ground in Karonga on Saturday.
The draw cut Chilumba’s lead to five points at the top with Mzuni on second position.
“We still have some games to go and there are some matches that are under review by the disciplinary committee which can give us points or have some of our games replayed. Who knows, we might win all of them,” Ngwira said
However Chilumba coach Owen Sichali still remained optimistic that he will take his side to the top flight Super League.
With all remaining fixtures to be played at their backyard, at Majaliro the coach promised to utilize home ground advantage.
The battle for promotion has reached a climax in all the three regions.
In Southern Region Surestream and Cobbe are frontrunners in the promotion battle while in the Cenrat Region, Dedza Young Soccer are eight points clear of second placed Support Battalion.
The entire regional leagues have until February to wrap up the season according to Football Association of Malawi calendar.
