Former Flames coach, Kinnah Phiri’s South African side, Free State Stars last night show determination and team work as they came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 away to SuperSport United.
SuperSport United took the lead in the first 15 minutes goals from Kingston Nkhatha and Thuso Phala.
However Coach Kinnah Phiri’s half time pep talk took its toll on players as they produced a much improved performance, with keeper, Glenn Verbauwhede making two crucial saves to keep SuperSport at bay.
Super-sub Jurie Basie heroic effort in the 78th minute paved way for a goal to give stars some glimpse of hope.
The comeback was completed in the 88th minute as Hendrik Somaeb lifted the ball over the ‘keeper following a brilliant through ball from Camaldine Abraw.
The result sees Stars move up to 13th place in the Premiership standings with 19 points, level on points with Moroka Swallows who have also played the same amount of games.
