Lilongwe giants will on Saturday host Red Lions in a friendly encounter aimed at preparing the Bankers for the forthcoming Zambezi Challenge Cup scheduled to take place this month.
Malawi-Sports speaking in an interview with Silver’s general secretary Mike Tembo, said they have set their eyes on grabbing the title of the pre-season competition and they would like to have thorough preparations for the competition.
“After losing the league title to Big Bullets, we would like to have the Zambezi Cup as something to show as we go into the next league season. This is why we are trying everything possible, in terms of preparations, to take the Zambezi crown,” he said.
Tembo said fans will pay K200 ($0.40) at the open stands and K500 ($1.11) at the VIP stands respectively.
The Zambezi Challenge is slated for February 21-23 in Lilongwe this year, with Zimbabwe’s Caps United aiming to defend the title as the champions.
This year will see Silver Strikers, Big Bullets and Be Forward Mighty Wanderers from Malawi with Maxaquene or Costa Dol Sol from Mozambique joining in the competition.
