Malawi’s Flag carrier and TNM Super League Champions Big Bullets have sailed through to the next round of CAF Champions League despite being held to a 2-all draw by Fomboni Club de Moheil of Comoro Island at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The People’s team sailed through to the next round through an away goal scored by Tizgobele Kumwenda in Comoros on February 15, 2015, making it 3-2 in goal aggregate.
Bullets FC started the game at a low note at a jam-parked Kamuzu Stadium as they were second on the ball. The development made the visitors to be aggressive.
All though this was the case, Bullets defence led by Sankhani Mkandawire, Pilirani Zonda, Bishir Maunde and Yamikani Fodya proved too good for the visitors.
Little by little Big Bullets started to reorganize and no wonder in the 36th minutes Bullets got a goal through Victor Limbani who received a ball from Fitcher Kondowe.
Bullets scored the second goal in the dying minutes of the first half through Tizgobele Kumwenda after Fomboni’s defence made a blander.
First half ended 2-0 in favour of the People’s team Big Bullets.
Come second half, Fomboni Club looked a changed side as the started press Big Bullets left and right. The development yield results just 8 minutes in the second half as Dafida M’madi pulled one back.
The goal gave Fomboni confidence as they were coming wave-after wave. Four minutes later Fomboni scored the second goal to make it 2-2.
The people’s team was seen all over the ground chasing shodows of Fomboni players who were on rampage in search for third goal. Although this was the case, Bullets managed to control the pressure and the game ended in 2-all draw, making the people’s team to sail through.
Meanwhile Big Bullets will now face Al Hilal of Sudan on March 15 and the second leg will be played at Kamuzu Stadium in the following week.
