Malawi the ‘Flames’ who yesterday were playing a friendly match against Tanzania’s ‘Taifa Star’ in Dar es salaam were held to a draw after the home came from behind to salvage a goal.The friendly match was a part of both team’s preparations for COSAFA tournament slated to take place in May in South Africa.
Flames who took the lead through long absence winger Micium Mhone, after his shot was slightly deflected in the first half looked to be on the brink of a win before Taifa’s Samatta scored from close range in the 76 minute after Mrisho Ngasa’s dribbled his way through the defence and passed the ball to the striker who had an easy tap in.
Right winger John Banda described the result as important to the Flames who are building up for the 2015 Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup to be played in South Africa this May.
“This game is important because it has something to do with Fifa ranking. It is also giving us better preparations for Cosafa Cup,” Banda told supersport.com.
