Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth development has organized a launch of “Sports for Health Initiative at Civo stadium in Lilongwe on Friday, March 6, 2015.
This has been disclosed in a statement from the Ministry of Information, Tourism and Culture signed by Kondwani Nankhumwa.
On this day, there will be various sports competitions such as football, netball and other games.
The event will be presided over by the Chief Secretary, Mr. George Mkondiwa and other senior government officials.
“All civil servants from all Ministries and government departments who want to participate are welcome and should get organized according to their Ministry or department,” said Nankhumwa.
Nankhumwa said the main of the Sports for Health initiative is to raise awareness of various life style related communicable and non-communicable diseases to the public servants including cancer.
“We strongly believe a healthy workforce is a great resource to national development,” he said.
