As in house fighting in the people’s team Big Bullets camp takes a new twist, Police on Tuesday arrested the team’s chairman of supporters Stone Mwamadi and his Secretary Mabvuto Chibambo over ugly scenes that happened on Monday.
It is said that Bullets FC supporters on Monday invaded the club house twice in the commercial capital Blantyre and broke windows before forcing their way in and grabbed some office equipment, trophies and unspecified foreign currency.
The move was to force Bullets executive led by Kondi Msungama and General Secretary Harold Fote to step down due to what they called miss management of funds and failure to run the well-fair of the team.
Police also arrested former chairman of supporters Isaac Jomo Osman, Billy One, Bruno Gama and Charlie Kayinga.
It took the intervention of Players led by Captain Fitcher Kondowe who stormed Blantyre Police demanding the immediate release of the arrested people and arrest them if they have any issues.
The players accused Msungama of incompetency.
Speaking in an interview with the Press Yesterday, Msungama bowed down to the supporters call for him to resign.
Commenting on the matter, football veteran Charles Nyirenda expressed shock over the development and he asked Football Association of Malawi (FAM) to immediately intervene on the matter.
The people’s team is expected to meet Al-Hilal of Sudan on Sunday in the second preliminary round of CAF Champions League to be played at Kamuzu Stadium.
Bullets need to score more than four goals for it to progress in the next stage of the tournament.
