Flames Captain Joseph Kamwendo, has declined a friendly game against Zambia on May 10, after being called up for duty by Coach Young Chimodzi, saying his giving way fro up-and-up-coming players.
Speaking in telephone interview with Malawi-Sports Kamwendo, confirmed that indeed he was approached by Chimodzi for the Zambia game but turned down saying he wants to give a chance to up-and-coming players.
“As you know that I won’t be part of Cosafa squad. I thought it better to take the team that is going to represent us at Cosafa,” Kamwendo said.
“I wish I was there because all my TZ Mazembe will play the games but it is good for up-and coming players to get a chance and show what they bring to the team.”
He said he had confidence in the players that have made the trip to Zambia.
“I know they will make us proud.”
