In a quest of building sportsmanship in all regions of the country Bonex Pool Club last week defeated Wanapato from Masasa in Mzuzu during the launch of the Northern Region Pool League (NRPL).
Bonex beat the Masasa team 7-5 at Waonawala Bar in Zolozolo.
The tournament has seen already ten teams which have registered.
Speaking after the victory Bonex captain Elia Mhango said he was delighted with the win.
“I am happy for registering a win during this launch, I thank my fellow players for playing as advised,” said Mhango.
Currently Parish Luwinga is defending the championship.
Speaking during the event NRPL chairperson Mathews Munthali urged participating teams to work hard so that they do better this year.
Munthali said there is a need for the championship to rotate from one team to another.
“This is a right time for teams to prepare well; it does not sound well to see only one team earning the championship. There is a need for the championship title to change from one team to another,” said Munthali.
