Silver Strikers on Sunday registered its first win in 2015 TNM Super League season by beating new comers Mzuzu University (Mzuni) 2-0, thanks to second half goals from Green Harawa and Peter Wadabwa.
The central bankers started the 2015 Super League season with a 2-1 loss to the financially crippled Big Bullet FC who is also title holders at Civo Stadium in the capital Lilongwe.
The following week, Silver Strikes again suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Malawi Armed Forces College (MAFCO) 3-1.
The development did not please Silver Strikers supporters who started demanding the resignation of the Club’s Coach Stain Chirwa who asked for more time, saying he is assembling a new team.
His plea yielded results on Sunday as the team displayed good football from the first whistle despite some resistance from Mzuni FC.
Green Harawa opened the score-sheet for Silver with a hard drive from the edge of the box after the students had restricted the Bankers to a goalless first half.
The bankers were two-up after 67 minutes- courtesy of a Peter Wadabwa cool finish after Mzuni goalkeeper Klilipota Thole had fumbled a Harawa free kick.
The result means both Silver and Mzuni have three points each, having managed a single victory from their opening assignments. Mzuni got their first points after shocking Epac 1-0 at Civo Stadium on Saturday.
