Premier Soccer League (PSL) sides were out scouting at the COSAFA Cup in the North West, which ended on Saturday evening.
One player who attracted interest from some of the PSL teams is Malawian midfielder Gerrard Phiri Jnr.
The Zimbabwean- based midfielder, who plays for CAPS United, and has been to South Africa before as he once attended trials at SuperSport United, although the trial was not successful.
According to a Soccer Laduma source, there are three teams which have shown interest but he can’t mention them right now.
He said they haven’t spoken to CAPS United yet and until that time they have to wait a bit.
“He is a 22 year old skillful player who plays like either George Lebese or Ngele though he is more direct in his approach,” the source said.
“Yes there are three teams who have enquired about the youngster and it will all depend on whether CAPS United agree to release him for trials or they want a team that wants to sign him directly without trials.”
In another related matter it looks like Bloemfontein Celtic striker, Gabadinho Mhango is on the wanted list of a number of PSL sides ahead of the upcoming 2015/16 season.
Mhango was one of the young stars of the 2013/14 season, where he netted nine league goals for Phunya Sele Sele.
The 22-year old Malawian forward was previously linked with a big move to Kaizer Chiefs following the departure of Knowledge Musona who left for Europe, and the crew can report that the 2014/15 PSL champions are amongst a host of clubs said to be keeping a close on eye on the Siwelele man.
Amakhosi have already parted ways with veteran midfielders, Siyabonga Nkosi and Josta Dladla and indications are that former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana international, Katlego Mphela is also set to be released by the Soweto giants.
The departure of Mphela could mean the opening spot needed for Chiefs to rope in a young goal scoring forward in their roster.
