The national football team the ‘Flames’ is today expected to enter camp in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers encounter against Zimbabwe at Kamuzu Stadium on June 13, 2015.
Malawi-Sports speaking in an interview with Flames coach Young Chimodzi, the team will re-group on Tuesday, and are expected to fly to Egypt on Friday to play the Pharaohs on Monday in a friendly match.
Chimodzi said he will rely on his Cosafa squad apart from including a few experienced players.
“I will rely on my Cosafa squad with an inclusion of some of the experienced players. The friendly match against Egypt will also help me to access the experienced players who did not make it for the Cosafa matches,” said Chimodzi.
The Flames arrived on Saturday from South Africa where they were participating in the Cosafa Challenge Cup and won a Cosafa plate after beating Zambia 1-0.
In his cosafa squad, Chimodzi incorporated a few foreign based players like Chimango Kayira, Charles Swini, Gerald Phiri jnr, Robin Ngalande, Frank Banda, Limbikani Mzava and Zicco Mkanda.
Some of the local players who made it to Cosafa were Mc Donald Harawa, John Lanjesi, Yamikano Fodya, Micium Mhone, John Banda, Muhammad Sulumba and Tizowere Kumwenda.
However, Chimodzi is likely to include Esau Kanyenda, Joseph Kamwendo, Atusaye Nyondo and Robert Ng’ambi on the list to face Zimbabwe
