The Malawi national football team the flames have moved 15 steps down on the Fifa rankings released on Thursday.
The massive drop by flames has been attributed to a 2-1 defeat the team suffered at the hands of the warriors of Zambabwe in the African Cup of Nation (AFCON) qualifying campaign.
Malawi national team is now on position 108 from position 97 at World level while in Africa is on position 30.
Algeria is still on position one in Africa while at World level is on position 19.
A statement seen at Fifa website stated that: “The volatility of the ranking this month is due in part to the many matches that have been played such as 26 Copa América matches, 99 qualifying matches for the World Cup or continental tournaments, and 88 friendlies.
“The number of matches taken into account has almost doubled the amount for the year so far (477 matches in total). The other reason is that the matches from last year’s World Cup have been devalued.”
Argentina is now ranked number 1 at World level outclassing Fifa World Cup Champions Germany who is second.
