Malawi national netball team the Queens have beaten their long arch-rival Spar Protea South Africa 58-51 in the ongoing 2015 Netball World Cup campaign taking place in Australia.
The win comes as a morale boast to the team as it recently lost its best position in Africa as well as at World level.
Malawi Queens looked so composed from the first quarter give South Africa no chance with Mwawi Kumwenda and Sindie Simtowe doing most of the destruction.
Malawi led by 14-12 baskets in the first quarter, 27-22 in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, the Proteas changed the style of play in order to overcome the slander lead but the Queens proved too strong to them and the quarter ended 41-37 in favor of the Queens.
In the fourth quarter, the Queens came with new ideas and was in full command of the game, completing the vintage show with a 58-51 win in the fourth quarter.
Writing at her official Facebook page, Mwawi Kumwenda said she was happy that she has helped the team in beating South Africa.
The next engagement for the Queens will be against Sri Lanka on Saturday at 11.15am and will face Singapore in the last preliminary round match on Sunday at 10.15am.
