Malawi national football team has beaten Djibouti 3-0 in group C of the ongoing Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup taking place in Ethiopia.
Flames coach Ernest Mtawali made no changes to the previous line up which crashed Sudan 2-1 on Monday which used 4-4-2 formation.
According to online reports sources by Malawi-sports.com reporter indicated that, flames started the game on high note pressing Djibout from left and right with Gerald Phiri Jnr, John Banda, Daliso Sailesi and Chimango Kaira doing most of the job in the midfield.
No wonder flames got goal in 38th minute of the first half through Gerald Phiri who scored through a penalty.
The goal gave flames more hunger for more goals and no wonder John Banda increased the lead with a fine finish just few minutes later.
Although this was case, flames squad was reduced to 10 before half time following a foul committed by Schumacher Kuwali, forcing the referee to flash him with a red card.
Come second half, flames continued displaying excellent performance in all angles giving Djibouti no any chance.
In the 75th minute, Chiukepo Msowoya scored the third goal for the flames putting the match beyond Djibouti’s reach.
Djibouti tried had to overturn the tables but it was too late for them as flames looked so strong up until the final whistle.
The win means flames in now topping group C with 6 points from two games and the team will face South Sudan on Friday.
