Blue Eagles on Sunday thrashed TNM Super League Champions Big Bullets 3-0 at Nankhaka Stadium in the capital Lilongwe.
This is the second defeat for the People’s team this season.
Before the match, the people’s team Big Bullets was accorded a guard of honour as champions for the 2015 TNM Super League.
The first half ended in goalless as both teams could not give each other chances and the match was not that entertaining.
Come second half, Blue Eagles looked so composed by displaying good football with John Banda, the captain doing most of the job on the mid-filed and no wonder Blue Eagles took a slender lead through Gilbert Chirwa.
As the people’s team was hoping for an equalizer, Wister Phiri increased the lead through a header after Big Bullets defence failed to clear a cross.
Eagles’ captain John Banda struck the third with a superb volley, it killed off any notions of a comeback for the People’s Team.
After the game, Bullets Technical Director Billy Tewesa attributed the loss to the referee, saying he sided with horst throughout the game.
In other games, Mzuni FC thrashed Epac F.C 2-1 to revive their hopes of remaining in the Super League while Fisd Wizard suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Azam Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium.
