Malawi Flames and Bidvest Wits attacking midfielder, Gerald Phiri Jnr could be going on loan to another ABSA Premiership side before the end of January transfer window.
Since joining from Zimbabwe giants, Caps United, the auspicious Flames midfielder has not made a debut for the club due to work permit hitches
It has been established that the former Be Forward Wanderers player is pushing for a short-term loan deal this month to adapt to the league. One of the South African reputable soccer publications, soccerladuma.com, reported last week that the club is working on securing a loan deal.
“It is expected that Phiri will be registered next season. Meanwhile, however, is seeking a short-term loan away from the club,” reported the publication.
But, when contacted yesterday from South Africa, Phiri refused to comment saying his agent would be the ideal person to speak on the matter.
In recent times, Wits announced the signing of British striker, James Keene, raising speculations that Phiri will not be registered for the club in this transfer window.
The former Caps midfielder joined Wits on a two-year deal after a solid performance for the Flames during the Cosafa Cup last year.
Robin Ngalande is another Flames star Wits have apart from Phiri, but he is on a season-long, loan deal at Platinum Stars.
Gerald Phiri Jnr, 22, is one of the reliable players for Flames, under Ernest Mtawali’s rebuilding exercise. He scored a goal for F lames at the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia last year.
