Chief Secretary to the government, George Mkondiwa, on Sunday lived up to his promise and presented a brand new 32- seator Toyota Coaster to Civo United.

The handover ceremony was held at the Civo Club house and was graced by the likes of James Mwenda, Fam vice-president as well as Williams Banda, Super League of Malawi (Sulom) General Secretary among others.

The players are very happy as the bus will help ease transport woes and will boost the team’s morale as they prepare for the new season which kicks-off in April.

In his remarks, Mkondiwa challenged the players to deliver the goods.

“We made a pledge last year when we hosted the team to a luncheon that we would do something on the issue of transport. It was sad that players were walking to and from training. As government, we will make sure that Civo players are motivated,” Mkondiwa said.

He insisted the club would keep some of its stars, who have been linked with several teams in the ongoing transfer window.

Civo captain, Emanuel Zoya, thanked government, saying it will motivate the players next season.

“This is awesome. We didn’t expect it and we promise to do better,” said Zoya, who has been linked with a move to TNM Super League champions, Nyasa Big Bullets.
Civo had mixed fortunes last season, winning the Standard Bank Knock-Out Cup and finishing on position 10 in the TNM Super League with 34 points.
