As they finished second place in the Presidential netball trophy after losing to Kukoma Diamonds with a score of 41-36, Tigresses who remain self-sponsored have decided to invest almost half of their K2million prize money.
Helen Mpinganjira-Tasosa, Tigress Team Manager, revealed plans to invest almost a K1 million on the forthcoming fundraising dinner which the team is organizing and is set for end of February.
Tasosa emphasized that more funds could be allocated to players if the forthcoming dinner had support from well-wishers.
“Nevertheless, we also want the other half to go towards players’ welfare. If we had sponsorship then 60 or 70 percent of the prize money could have gone to the players. It is our wish to motivate the players to continue working hard for the team and their career,”
“Unless we secure extra funding for the dinner, I don’t think we will change our plans. Realistically, we need to give a lot to our players since we do not have sponsors,” she said.
So far, Presidential champions, Kukoma Diamonds have not yet come up with strategies on how to use their K4 million prize money.
