The third and final edition of Airtel Money national netball trophy will be launched on February 13 in Salima.
Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) general secretary, Carol Bapu, said they were expecting an exciting third season of the richest competition in the country.
“We have agreed with our sponsor, Airtel Malawi, to launch the third edition in Salima next week. Everybody in the netball circles is excited with the development,” she said.
Bapu said they intend to run the competition for three months.
As usual, the competition will start at the district level where champions will qualify for the regional finals. Top regional teams will reach the national stage.
The Nam GS called on teams to prepare thoroughly to give out best performances during the final season.
“They need to prepare well to leave a mark in the competition. Those that will be ill-prepared, will stumble,” Bapu added.
Airtel Malawi launched the K360 million three-year sponsorship at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe in October 2013.
According to the contract, about K70 million was earmarked for the Airtel Money national trophy annually, while the Queens were entitled to about K25.7 million each year.
Currently, Tigresses have won the competition twice at the national level.
